Repositioning of the brow and forehead enhancing facial appearance and perception of expression
The ideal position of your brow is influenced by your preference, gender, racial background as well as personality you want to portray. Its relationship to the superior orbital rim, or upper eye socket, in terms of height and curvature has an impact on how others perceive you. In addition to the influence on your appearance, a heavy brow may weigh down onto the upper eyelids and obscure vision.
Various elements and areas of the brow and forehead may be of concern such as excess skin, position of the brow, position of the hairline and wrinkles. Placement of incision and method of approach will be determined by your areas of concern and goals you want to achieve.
Combining a brow lift with botulinum toxin muscle relaxing injections to the central forehead creates a well balanced rejuvenated appearance that is natural and harmonious. Delivering a tailored approach that works best for you ensures your procedure is safe, effective and satisfactory.
There are many techniques described to raise the brow and forehead. One of the variabilities is placement of incision. For an isolated heaviness of the brow weighing down on the upper eyelid, a reverse brow lift through an upper eyelid blepharoplasty incision may be sufficient. For a more extensive brow and forehead descent, a lift is carried out through two small key hole incisions that are placed behind the hairline.
General anaesthetic. Local anaesthetic or sedation may be used for a reverse brow lift.
A brow lift takes about 60-90 minutes. A reverse brow lift takes about 45 minutes.
Normal daily activities can be resumed after one week and social activity within 1-2 weeks. Depending on the intensity of exercise, it is usually not recommended before 4 weeks.
